Don’t think of trampolines being only for kids. In fact, the owners of Tallahassee’s new Altitude Trampoline Park hope to offer something for all ages.
Altitude opened recently in the former Sky Zone at 1925 N. Monroe St., next to the Planet Fitness. The 28,000 square-foot complex includes a dodgeball arena, an obstacle course, foam pit with orange and purple soft cubes, trampoline basketball court, a warped wall with uneven trampoline platforms for risk takers and a toddler area.
“We hope to create a space in Tallahassee that all members of the community can enjoy, including toddlers, youth and school groups, families, and college groups,” said Brooke Duquette, regional manager of Altitude Parks, in an email.
To establish its presence in the community, general manager Devonte Gillins and assistant general manager Zyaire Williams plan to partner with local schools, universities and other organizations.
The facility does not offer laser tag and virtual reality experiences like its cross-town competitor, Urban Air, the only other trampoline facility in the area, though Gillins foresees the park offering more attractions in the future.
The center is offering first-time goers a free one-hour pass to jump within the first hour of opening. Last Saturday’s grand opening attracted hundreds of visitors.
“People were here at like 10 a.m., we had a long line. And around 10:45 a.m., the line was wrapped around the building,” Williams said.
In these persisting days of COVID, Gillins said the park is safe and clean, stressing how they sanitize main touch points throughout the days, and “deep clean, vacuum and sanitize” trampolines and padding after closing.
The Tallahassee location is the only one in North Florida. Others are in Tampa, Kissimmee and Sanford.
“Each Altitude Park has its own unique mix (of) activities; no two parks are exactly alike,” Duquette said. “We aim to provide a place that jumpers can grow with from childhood to adulthood.”
