What do you want to do after graduation and why?  I want to commission as a Marine Corps Officer. I am really set on being either an infantry or artillery officer, but flying in the Marine Corps is still in my sights. I want to stay in for at least 20 years because I feel that my service to the best country in the world is the least I can do as an American. My father was born in the Fall of Saigon on the last day of the Vietnam War and if it weren’t for the United States, I would simply not be in the position I am currently in.

Why did you choose Navy?  I chose Navy because I wanted to serve the best country in the world, play football for the best head coach in the nation, and go to the best school in the United States. I hold true to my values of God, Country, and football and Navy embodied every single one of these values at an exceptional note.

What would you tell somebody that is considering coming to Navy to play football? I would tell them that at the end of the day, it is all about service. Whether it is service to one another on the team, in the brigade, or for our great nation, one must buy in to the concept of service if you want to play football for Navy.

If you could play another position, what position would you play and why? I would be the holder because I am not willing to go outside the realm of specialists.

If you could choose any opponent for Navy to play that is currently not on the schedule, who would you choose and why? I would love for Navy to play UNLV because Navy rarely comes that far West and it would be nice to have all of my family and friends only have to drive less than an hour to watch me play.

Favorite class at the Naval Academy and why?  Any leadership course is my favorite class because I love learning about real life applications with any material I learn in school.

Hardest class at the Naval Academy and why?  Chemistry is the hardest class because I am not the best at math and I cannot wrap my head around many concepts I have learned in the class.

Favorite teacher at the Naval Academy and why? Major Emison, USMC. Major Emison is a Marine Infantry Officer that exhibits the leader that I am trying to be in the fleet. Even in a class with little to no stakes, he does an exceptional job at making his students feel like we are under his wing and his guidance has allowed me to develop greatly as an individual.

Favorite form of social media and why?  Snapchat is my favorite form of social media because I can communicate with all of my friends in a quick manner and see a widespread variety of media all in one platform.

Favorite person to follow on social media and why?  My favorite person to follow on social media would have to be Tu Lam, CEO of Ronin Tactics. Tu is of Vietnamese descent like myself and his decorated career as a Green Beret has motivated me that Vietnamese people can do well and belong in the military.

If you could have dinner with any 4 people at the Naval Academy, who would you choose and why?:  I would have to have dinner with Brandon Moore, Declan Moriarty, Max Awtry and Andre Saiz. I have created strong bonds with all of them throughout the year in company and all of our schedules have made it hard to connect all at once.

Favorite sport to follow at the Naval Academy outside of football and why? My favorite sport to follow at the Naval Academy outside of football would be baseball. My high school classmate, Ivan Aguirre, is the starting second baseman so I always watch to support him. In addition, I have always had a love for baseball since I was a little kid.

If you didn’t play football at Navy, what sport would you play and why? I would definitely be on the tennis team.

What song is playing on your headphones in the locker room right before taking the field? I’m playing Hooked by NOTION before I take the field. Contrary to popular belief, EDM/House music really calms me down and lets me focus.

What is your dream vacation?  My dream vacation would be in Santorini, Greece staying in the white cliff houses next to the sea.

How many teams should make the FBS Playoffs?  12 Teams.

What is the best thing about being in the American Athletic Conference? The best part about the conference has to be the geographic area that the conference plays. I have gotten to see a lot of the country and go to places that I have never been to with my brothers.

Favorite Coach Niumatalolo quote: “Our love for one another is greater than their hate for us”.

One word to describe a Navy Football player: Selfless.

Who will be the surprise player on offense in 2022 and why?  Vincent Terrell III will be the surprise player. Vince has developed immensely in the offseason and will finally be able to showcase his skills and talent.

Who will be the surprise player on defense in 2022 and why? The surprise player on defense will be Justin Reed. Justin is taking on a big role at a young age and will get a huge shot at imposing his will on the quarterback and ball carriers.

Who is the toughest player on the Navy football team and why? The toughest player on the team is Bijan Nichols. I have never heard him complain at all, he is always displaying extreme effort and care, he is great at what he does and this is what made him to be elected a team captain.

What player epitomizes Navy Football and why?  Max Sandlin epitomizes Navy football. His hustle, production throughout his time here and willingness to help others is what makes him epitomize Navy football.

Who will be the Most Valuable Player on offense in 2022 and why?  The most valuable player will be Tai Lavatai. He has learned a lot from his first season and he has made a conscious effort to improve on what he can do better. He has acquired a stronger sense of toughness and the dog is inside him.

Who will be the Most Valuable Player on defense in 2022 and why?  The most valuable player on defense will be Will Harbour. Will is taking on a big role that was played by a Navy football great (Diego Fagot) and I believe that Will will fill those shoes greatly. He will execute the job of the Mike position at a high intensity with high success.

What are you most looking forward to in 2022 ? I am most looking forward to being done with my Plebe year and getting after it with my brothers that I have bonded with a lot more since I first got to Navy.
